Ah! You guys, I'm in love with this outfit! Seriously, I want to wear it everyday. I think I'm so crazy about it because it feels like a totally simple t-shirt and jean shorts outfit, which I can sometimes feel pretty schlumpy in. But with the lace shirt, the long key necklace, and these embellished sandals, I feel totally chic while maintaining the beautiful, simple comfort of denim and a comfy tee. I fully plan on wearing this lace shirt the minute it gets out of the laundry, every time. It is that awesome. And I'm more than a little bit obsessed with this giant watch. I got it at F21, it was probably $4, and I'm sure it will break, but I love the novelty of wearing a giant man-sized watch. Like wearing one of those novelty foam cowboy hats. Or carrying a vuvuzela. Ridiculous like that.
Speaking of vuvuzelas, can I please dedicate the rest of this post to them? These simple, annoying-as-balls horns have completely changed the way I think about South Africa, soccer, or sporting events in general. Joe and I were watching Invictus last night (the recent Morgan Freeman/Matt Damon movie about Nelson Mandela and the South African rugby team), and at a particularly moving moment, I looked at Joe, mimed a trumpet, and loudly said, "BZZZZZZ". It was awesome. Oh, and did you know that YouTube has installed a vuvuzela button on all its videos? If this isn't pure genius, I don't know what is. Vuvuzelas can also be used to express your feelings about the Gulf Coast oil spill! I mean, seriously. If I ever attend a public event that doesn't have a whole crap-ton of vuvuzelas, I'm going to be deeply disappointed.
Whew. I've probably lost a half-dozen readers who don't give a hoot about vuvuzelas, and another half-dozen who don't know what vuvuzelas are. Well, at least now you don't have to ask me my thoughts on vuvuzelas for my Between Laundry Days FAQ!
