OXO Moving Card

I was happy to make this image for OXO. They needed an image to send out as a change of address announcement. We already had several pieces of theirs in our utensil drawer, so I knew they made a quality product.

OXO isn't paying me to put this on my blog, I just thought Bent Objects visitors might want to see it. I made this out of two peelers, two pizza cutters, a set of measuring spoons, and one corn cob holder (plus annealed and galvanized wire).

edit- Here's an image where I show the what's what- Details.

Little Egg sneak peek.

Yeah, this is gonna be like one of those movie previews that you see, where the movie won't be out for over a year. Yeah, it's exactly like that really.
---------------------
Some good news- Rhett and Link are coming next week to interview me. They're some funny guys who I met in New York. They have a live internet show every Thursday at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The show is family friendly, if you have kids, or are one.

Anyway, the interview will be on Youtube, and I'll post it here somehow when it's available. I'm sure I'll come off as a total nitwit, but I gotta be me, right?

First Impressions

Remember, first impressions are important.

Later in relationships...well, check out this link!
------------------------------------------------

Also, a reminder- Strangely Orange Snack Appreciation Day is fast approaching, and I'm trying to keep it gaining momentum. I'll be eating only orange food that day, and thanks to the menus and ideas of this blogs' visitors, I'm not going to have any trouble at all in doing that.

In honor of this special holiday, I'm selling economy t-shirts at my cafepress store with absolutely no mark-up on my part. A mere $8.99 plus shipping to show your S.O.S.A.D. pride!

Something Old, something New!

Ok, by now you guys know that I like me a bit of olde worlde now and again, well for this latest piece I did everything bar feed it to the neighbours dog to get that old, antiquated look on something brand new. I think I managed to distress it enough, in fact it looks like something out of an old historical museum! Job well done I would say! ;)

Influences for images

This first image is one from my Iron Man series from a couple of weeks ago. Turned out to be far more popular than I expected. Usually the ones that I have doubts about are the biggest hits. I didn't have any doubts about the actual photos, what I was doubtful of was the soundtrack that accompanied it! (look for it over on the sidebar. you're supposed to play it as you look at the series of images.)

Thought I'd show an old comic book cover that influenced me. I just had to search the internet for it so I could post it here, and I forgot how great it truly is! So much more action than how I remembered it! My Iron Man image isn't nearly as fantastic, but I thought I'd share where my brain was at then.

At the moment, I'm working on an image for the book that is directly influenced by an old Muhammad Ali photo. I'm really happy how it's coming along, and I think it'll be a really fun image.

S.O.S.A.D. T-Shirt

An official t-shirt! Are you kidding me? I finally have something for sale? Unbelievable.
I've even got mugs and buttons too. I'm totally selling out, people!

It took three tries, but we finally figured out what kind of image looks good on these direct print shirts. The image is supposed to last, and I couldn't see much shrinkage after washing (the shirt, that is).

For those of you who don't remember, I invented a day to celebrate weird orange snacks (Strangely Orange Snack Appreciation Day). Why? Why not? If Hallmark can invent a holiday, then the rest of us can too, darn it! Here's my Cafepress store.

On another note, I need to gather ideas of orange food and drink, because I've chosen to ONLY eat and drink that color on June 21st, 2008. That will be the first official S.O.S.A.D., and is usually also the Summer Solstice (except this year, when it inconveniently falls on the previous day). I was thinking, maybe I should ask Bent Objects visitors to help make up my menu for that day. Feel free to leave your ideas in the comment section!

Hot off the table!

Just managed to get this babydoll top completed for a dear friend and fellow etsy seller, Ira Grant. Ira runs a hugely successful shop on etsy selling gorgeous bags with a true european flavour. Check out her store here!

I took Ira's taste in fabrics into account when putting the design for this top together! I love the contradiction of patterns, colours etc, they clash in such a cute way! Babydoll indeed. ;)

New Product on the way!

Guys,

I just wanted to share my excitement with you. I was on a roll in the studio ( sometimes you get days like that) and I came up with a new product to add to my etsy boutique at the weekend. I am really happy with the new pieces and having spent the whole night in the studio designing, I am looking forward to getting them up online.

I have often dabelled in jewellery, such as cuffs and chokers and have recently come up with a new collar piece that features all my signature embellishments in the typical romantic tattered fashion! The couture neckwear can be worn with the plainest blouse or vest to stunning effect. But you will have to wait until Saturday to check out the shop update! ;)
So for now I leave you with a pic of that signature embellishment I mentioned.

looking forward to seeing you there!

Pretty Cupcakes

Exciting News!

Ok, you know how the saying goes, everything happens in threes! well this month thats exactly what happened. I was approached by 3 magazines to do an editorial on my "Bonzie" label, which I sell in my etsy online boutique, here!

I was blown away by this news and am just bursting for the day when Im heading down do the corner shop to pick up the editions with my pieces inside! When this happens my mam goes round the town with a copy strategically placed under her arm for the day, just in case she bumps into anyone that she can tell! lol

I don't want to out the publications yet until the features break in case they have a discreet policy on what coming out in future issues. so it will be fun to blog about them when they are out.

I was also asked to take a profile shot for one of them and as a "runner away from camera" person I had to bite the bullet and try.

well it came out fine, that isuntil I went a bit crazy in photoshop and added all kinds of mystic and artistry! I kinda like it now! To me it kind of reflects the quirky nature of my label too!

so stay tuned for magazine coverage!

Iron Man!

When I was a kid, I read my share of comic books. I'm not much into them now, but I remember them fondly, and still get excited when a movie starring one of the characters premiers. Over the weekend, I was one of the billion people who went to see Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr.

How would I rate the movie? I liked it a bunch. Check it out sometime.

Before you scroll down to the images, look to the sidebar and press the play button of the soundtrack. I tried to give you some audio to listen to, as you follow this incredible story of good over evil.

OK, now start the music (you'll find I have no shame these days), and scroll on down!

Look!! It's Iron Man!!!

(keep scrolling down)

An unfortunate roll of the dice...

He attempts to escape justice, pass go, and collect $200!
Iron Man sez- "Not so Fast, evil doer!"

The bad guy is no match for... Iron Man!

Another job well done!

The End.

Here are the first 3 so far, with many more styles and colours to come. Of course they are all going to be available from my etsy boutique if you fancy investing in one for your 08 wardrobe. ;)
