Its Arrived, Belle Armoire

Its arrived, one of the big secrets that I was holding in for ages until its launch was the arrival of the November/December issue of the incredibly stunning Belle Armoire Magazine. I have joined the team as a columnist for this awesome publication and bring you guys a Bonzie article monthly on the joys of tatter couture in all its deconstructed glory. Tatter Antiquated Underbust Corset.

I have been busy lately in the studio with a steady stream of custom orders. The most recent one being this antiquated tattered underbust corset for an awesome client on etsy. My client is planning on rocking this with a pair of ruffled cotton bloomers! What a perfect client, I just love those that dare to be individual in their approach to personal adornment!

New Shop!

So, I have been tossing around the idea of how I could extend my love of surface textures and detailed embellishments and I decided to open another etsy shop called Anood for all my other sewing projects such as cushions, homewares, art quilts, bags , art etc. Basically anything that inspires me and gives me the freedom to embellish and empty canvas!

I found the first night of having 2 etsy accounts absolutely dizzying! I honestly don't know if I will get used to swapping accounts, chatting in the forums and being in the wrong avatar etc! its crazy confusing. Round about now would be an awesome time for an assistant.... any takers?

Something Old, something New!

Ok, by now you guys know that I like me a bit of olde worlde now and again, well for this latest piece I did everything bar feed it to the neighbours dog to get that old, antiquated look on something brand new. I think I managed to distress it enough, in fact it looks like something out of an old historical museum! Job well done I would say! ;)

Reconstructed babydoll dress.

Inspiring Ulla!

Ok, before I ever stumbled upon etsy and got my boutique up and running I used to spend endless hours scouring google for anything remotely related to design, fashion, craft, romantic, deconstructed, baroque, renaissance.........yada yada yada, basically all the things that I enjoy and find inspiring! one of the things that kept coming up in my searches was a blog by an absolutely inspiring lady called Ulla! I spent a long night reading through her entire blog (and trust me guys this lady is a prolific blogger person), I was totally blown away by the abundance of inspiration throughout the blog not to mention the fact that Ulla seemed to blog about all the things that I am really drawn to but can never quite manage to find!

Well a short while ago I was just shocked to find a message from this very same lady in my inbox in my etsy store enquiring about a couture scarf to be made! Its such an awesome feeling to be asked by someone that you look up to, to make something of your own for them! This was definitely a highlight for me and made me think about how small the world is! In particular the crafting community online! which is fantastic!

Tatter Couture

Every once in a while I get so busy in the studio on private commissions that I don't get a lot of time to devote to my firstborn (my etsy online boutique! lol) This really begins to bother me after a short while as Ireally feel that the shop gets stagnant and all the wonderful gals who stop by from time to time must be feeling somewhat dissappointed when things don't get shaken up a little. Hence this cream tatter skirt was born.

I decided to step out of the studio deadlines for 1 day and devote my time to creating something new for my etsy shop. This had major theraputic value as it gave me a change from the run of dance costumes that I am currently buried under!! lol It also allowed me to add a change into the etsy shop which was beginning to show mould from sitting unattended for a long while!

Perhaps I could request an extra day in the week to devote purely to new and exciting projects to keep the my etsy presence fresh! ;)
