I've got to admit.... I'm not much of a gal for pink but in response to the overwhelming demand for pink/purple/blue this season in the new studio we have succumbed to the dark side so to speak. I have to say.... it's actually growing on me ( runs and hides!) . I'm finding myself more attracted to it day by day. I'm sure I'll get a medicated need for neutrals and mutes tones pretty soon but for now the pink posse is in town and the shop shelves are looking uber vibrant!

It's been a while since we popped into the blog to update you all on how things are going. We have had a really craze month including, 2 Awards Ceremonies, new shop clients, A Launch Party, A Ball, A meeting with the online editor of Elle Magazine Canada, A consultation with a very high profile VIP Bridal Client from Dublin ( more on that later) , a fabulous family communion celebration ( of course the whole family rocked bonzie designs), the "Signature Styles" US book arrived from California which we are featured in ( more on that exciting development later), lots of Ladies Day clients, a special Princess Dress commission from Vintage China company, Pearl and Godiva. Mother of the Brides, Brides, wedding guests and much more....... the short version : it's been a crazy busy month! Hence the tumbleweed bouncing around the blog.

We wanted to stop by and share a few photo's from our clients that we received this month to show you some of the fabulous ladies rocking our creations out and about. :)

For those of you wishing to have something bespoke made or some bonzie pieces to match an existing outfit we are available for consultation by appointment on Saturdays. ( So in a nutshell. Mon - Friday is sew fest and Saturday is dedicated to meeting clients/appointments etc) See you there!

The Lovely Rhona..

Thanks to the lovely Rhona who captured Ger and I hanging out with our wares at "Style at Set" Vintage Fair, 2011.

Rhona is a really vivacious character with a wonderful fashion and style blog called "Rose Tinted Uncertainty" ( Check it out!) We had the pleasure of bumping into Rhona again recently at the Vintage Fair and she was perusing the stands with her gal pal. I was reminded of a shoot that Rhona did last year with the lovely folk at ShutterBug Photography Studios, Kilkenny where Rhona rocked our large signature tulle skirt and teamed it with a full gold sequin vest, as only Rhona could do!! I fished out the image to share with you guys!

Pearl and Godiva Shoot

Very excited to be heading for a new Photo Shoot next week with the lovely folk of Pearl and Godiva. ( Vintage China Specialists ) . Our buddy and photographer extraordinaire Shane O'Neill of Aspect Photography will be on hand with his camera to capture the magic. Will be back soon with images. :)

The new diggs are really becoming home girls. We are really settling into our studio space and we are meeting more and more customers coming in to see our wares on show in the shop. Lots of happy customers this month. A gorgeous gal wearing head to toe "bonzie" for her 21st Birthday Party, a stunning bride wearing a fabulous vintage inspired ivory headpiece for upcoming wedding, a lovely client who popped in with a simple pretty pink dress and left with a matching fascinator, handbag, bolero and corsage brooch and many, many more.

We were thrilled to be asked recently to design the official gown for the Waterford City Mayor for the Formal Mayor's Ball. As soon as we got the commission we knew instantly the ensemble we wanted to create for Mayor Mary. Over the months we met and discussed the shape/fit/fabric of the gown and had fittings to tailor the gown perfectly.

The Ball was on last night in the Tower Hotel, Waterford City and it was a huge success. Mary looked absolutely incredible in her Black Silk Couture Corset and Skirt. A matching silk black bolero completed the look. There will be official photos released in the local press this week which we will be sure to share with you.

Meanwhile back at the ranch , it was only 2 days to go and I still had no gown myself! Luckily we managed to rustle something up just in time. Ger sent me down a gorgeous antique lace fascinator with cream vintage veiling in the post with a little note attached ( Cinderella shall go to the ball!) It was the cherry on top. :)

My gown was a vintage inspired tea stain tulle number with pearl and rhinestone epulettes and draping beaded accents by " bonzie " ... bien sur!

I've been biting my tongue for ages in the run up to this little nugget of news. Our gal pal Sarah Jane Hanton of BeautyTeam.ie is heading for the Dragon's this Sunday. Sarah Jane will be pitching her company to the Dragon's Den on the upcoming episode on RTE this Sunday Night.

I can't wait to see Sarah in action. We are all rooting for her here at Bonzie HQ.

One of our Bravest Brides..Anna

Toes and Tulle!!!!

Anna came to us looking to order her entire Wedding Ensemble from us and we were so chuffed to be working with such an adventurous bride. Anna opted for a Bonzie Victorian Embroidered Blazer and our Signature Tea Stain Romantic Tulle Skirt. ( A really unique Vintage looking combination!)

I have to admit, I can only imagine how scary it was for Anna to be ordering her made to measure Wedding Gown over the Internet and from a designer based in Ireland ( Anna is based in the US) but one can only say that her bravery paid off and she looks an absolute vision in her finished look!

We hope both Anna and her new Hubby are very happy together!

It's been a tricky task to actually come up with the content for this post as it's so very personal to us both. A blog post couldn't quite capture how excited we are about the news that we are about to move into a brand new studio, which will we open soon for the very first time to the public. We are joining the Kite Design Collective in the new Viking Quarters in Waterford City which houses 5 different Craft/Design entities including their workshop spaces and a retail frontage. The Collective has an incredible array of talent and Irish products to share, Irish Handmade Glass, Sean Egan Art Glass, Anne McDonnell Print, Stradbally Jewellery and ourselves, Bonzie Designs. :)

The new Viking Quarter in Waterford includes attractions such as Reginalds Tower, Waterford Crystal, The Theatre Royal, The Museum, Greyfriars Art Gallery and not forgetting the gorgeous wee Gallweys Irish Handmade Chocolate Cafe right next door!!! The whole are is being reinvigorated as a Tourism Attraction and we are absolutely blessed to be a part of the new plans for the City.

It's always been a dream of ours to have a public space to share with our customers and after a long time plugging away the opportunity as arisen. We are going to keep you all updated on the developments but for now, it's a blog entry of gratitude. Thanks to those who supported us and our dream to date, to all of our clients for keeping us in silk and lace, to the Waterford City Enterprise Board for supporting the new venture and Waterford City Council for having the vision to redevelop our lovely City for the coming years. We hope that some of our International customers will stop by our studios the next time they are in Ireland it would be incredible to meet you in person!!!
