I've got to admit.... I'm not much of a gal for pink but in response to the overwhelming demand for pink/purple/blue this season in the new studio we have succumbed to the dark side so to speak. I have to say.... it's actually growing on me ( runs and hides!) . I'm finding myself more attracted to it day by day. I'm sure I'll get a medicated need for neutrals and mutes tones pretty soon but for now the pink posse is in town and the shop shelves are looking uber vibrant!

We were absolutely thrilled to find out recently that our dear friend Jacqui won the title of "Waterford Rose". Jacqui is one of my close friends and an absolute doll not to mention stunningly gorgeous. We are all so proud of Jacqui for winning the title and for representing her home town in such a gorgeous light. Jacqui is an infectious person to be around and you can't help smiling in her presence, she's always lifting those around her.

We were thrilled to work with Jacqui on her accessories for her official engagements during the Regionals and she modelled them beautifully. We will keep you guys posted on pictures soon. In the meantime check out Jacqui above rocking her new sash and myself and Sammy hanging with Jacqui at the finals. A fun night at Port Laois where we met Rose's from all over the world.

We would like to wish Jacqui the best in her role as Waterford Rose this year. We couldn't have chosen a better girl ourselves!

The shop is open Monday to Saturday and there is a selection of bonzie goodies available to purchase. For those of you wishing to have something bespoke made or some bonzie pieces to match an existing outfit we are available for consultation by appointment on Saturdays. ( So in a nutshell. Mon - Friday is sew fest and Saturday is dedicated to meeting clients/appointments etc) See you there!

Pearl and Godiva Shoot

Very excited to be heading for a new Photo Shoot next week with the lovely folk of Pearl and Godiva. ( Vintage China Specialists ) . Our buddy and photographer extraordinaire Shane O'Neill of Aspect Photography will be on hand with his camera to capture the magic. Will be back soon with images. :)

The new diggs are really becoming home girls. We are really settling into our studio space and we are meeting more and more customers coming in to see our wares on show in the shop. Lots of happy customers this month. A gorgeous gal wearing head to toe "bonzie" for her 21st Birthday Party, a stunning bride wearing a fabulous vintage inspired ivory headpiece for upcoming wedding, a lovely client who popped in with a simple pretty pink dress and left with a matching fascinator, handbag, bolero and corsage brooch and many, many more.

Girls, do you guys remember the stunning Vintage Fashion Extravaganza last year that was "Absolut Style at Set" in Kilkenny. WELL IT'S BACK DOLLS!!! It's been a tricky task to actually come up with the content for this post as it's so very personal to us both. A blog post couldn't quite capture how excited we are about the news that we are about to move into a brand new studio, which will we open soon for the very first time to the public. We are joining the Kite Design Collective in the new Viking Quarters in Waterford City which houses 5 different Craft/Design entities including their workshop spaces and a retail frontage. The Collective has an incredible array of talent and Irish products to share, Irish Handmade Glass, Sean Egan Art Glass, Anne McDonnell Print, Stradbally Jewellery and ourselves, Bonzie Designs. :)

The new Viking Quarter in Waterford includes attractions such as Reginalds Tower, Waterford Crystal, The Theatre Royal, The Museum, Greyfriars Art Gallery and not forgetting the gorgeous wee Gallweys Irish Handmade Chocolate Cafe right next door!!! The whole are is being reinvigorated as a Tourism Attraction and we are absolutely blessed to be a part of the new plans for the City.

It's always been a dream of ours to have a public space to share with our customers and after a long time plugging away the opportunity as arisen. We are going to keep you all updated on the developments but for now, it's a blog entry of gratitude. Thanks to those who supported us and our dream to date, to all of our clients for keeping us in silk and lace, to the Waterford City Enterprise Board for supporting the new venture and Waterford City Council for having the vision to redevelop our lovely City for the coming years. We hope that some of our International customers will stop by our studios the next time they are in Ireland it would be incredible to meet you in person!!!

January Resolutions...

We met a gorgeous new pal at the Female Excellence in Business Awards who approached our stand for a chat about the event and to make introductions. I noticed Jemma from across the room prior to her arrival at the foot of our stand as she had a wonderful glow about her. I was entranced with her gorgeous skin and healthy appearance that I instantly knew that she must be the lady responsible for the hugely successful Nutritional Therapy company based in Waterford and on show at the event.

Jemma would be the perfect pal to have in the run up to your wedding or special event for those with new years resolutions of the healthy wholesome kind! . Waterford Design Week 2010

It's officially Waterford Design Week Everyone! In a nutshell a week to showcase what our local designers have to offer as part of National Irish Design Week. 1st - 7th November.

Look who our neighbour was!!! None other than Shane O'Neill of Aspect Photography(www.aspectphotography.net) who regularly collaborates with us and who is responsible for some of the more stunning and provocative images in our portfolio. Shane also rocked out a bonzie photograph for his exhibit entry and just by pure chance and karma we ended up on the same exhibit board together! :)

picture of Heather Crank, a real life bride on her wedding day in the US who wore bonzie on her wedding day and kindly thought to send us her pictures afterwards to share her special day with us. Little did Heather realize that she would be so well received and is now featured on print all over the world!! :)

You know what I love about these kind of showcases.... I love how it brings all of the local talent under one roof, I love how you get a glimpse into the strength of individual designers in your own area with the possibility of collaborating, networking and joining resources. The board above with bonzie designs and Shane O'Neill photography is a perfect example of how two local entities collaborated together to enhance each others business. Showcases such as this one facilitate more of that kind of networking and support system for local designers and individuals trying to carve out their own foothold in the local community.

Guys...on another note. Ger and I have some very exciting news coming soon. We are really looking forward to sharing it with you all in the very near future. The project is currently in motion and gathering speed and we should be in a position to share the launch and details pretty soon!! xxx

Gals, we spent a day with our photographer buddy ShaneO'Neill of Aspect Photography and the talented innovative folks at award winning salon FoxyChopper Hair Design , Waterford ( Any fashionistas in the local area, check out their salon for one of the edgiest staff with the coolest attitudes and awesome customer service!)(I get my own hair done there too!). Models Amy and Leah braved one of the coldest days in nothing but lace and tulle without even blinking an eyelid!

We captured some really amazing shots yesterday and we are busting to see and share the results in a few weeks.
