For the first time in many, many, many weeks, I feel ready for Monday. The weekend was just perfect, and I'm sure it was due in no small part to the glorious weather we had yesterday (it hit 85 degrees, and was indulgently humid and sunny all day). It was a perfect combination of socializing, quiet alone time, productivity, and family craziness, and I feel rested, centered, happy, and ready for the week.
Actually, my weekend was kind of packed. I went to a baby shower on Friday night, which was a big old successful surprise (I'd never been to any sort of surprise party that actually worked). I had to go into work on Saturday morning, which oddly put me in a really good mood for the rest of the day (starting the day with something productive made me feel like I was off to a good start or something). So after a very long walk along the water, I used my productivity motivation and cleaned the heck out of my room. I got rid of bags and bags of unwanted and unneeded junk, filed papers that have been floating around for months, and got a kick-start on transitioning my closet into my spring/summer clothes. All with a glass of wine, the windows open, and reruns of Ally McBeal playing (oddly, this show has left me super nostalgic for the great days of the late 90s).
Yesterday was perfect. After waking up to hot sunshine practically bursting through my windows, I quickly gathered myself and headed out for the day. I took another long walk to and along the lakeshore, found the most perfect napping spot in the city, and saw an old friend on my way home. Oh, and I got sunburned (!!!). I spent yesterday afternoon and evening with my Italian extended family out in the 'burbs. My uncle is moving to Australia after having lived in Paris for almost my whole life, so he's making a few stops in the States on the way. It was awesome to see him, and hear my family tell stories about their lives. Honestly, there may have been more yelling last night than there was at the surprise baby shower on Friday. Us Italians know how to make our point. It was a lovely, albeit somewhat exhausting, time.
And now it's Monday, and I have apparently given you the play-by-play of my weekend. Tell me, how was your weekend? Any exciting plans or relaxing times? Are you ready for Monday? What does the week have in store for you?
