I'm back! After a week of tasty dinners, new-to-us microbrews, summery outdoor concerts, museum-going in the rain, late nights, early mornings, great movies, full days of nothing but picnics, intensive weeding in our veggie garden, afternoon napping, and lots of yummy breakfasts and brunches (my favorite food to eat is breakfast food, so I was very happy with the plethora of tasty breakfasts I got to enjoy), I'm heading into this Monday satisfied and exhausted. I wasn't able to take last week off at work, so Joe and my jam-packed week of fun was jigsawed around my regular schedule at work. We were definitely burning the candle at both ends, so I'm struggling a bit this morning.
We spent most of this past weekend being super productive, and I'm delighted to report that our garden is doing beautifully (if you don't count the metric ton of weeds that seems to spring up overnight). I'm happily sunburned from leaning over in the hot afternoon sun for hours yesterday pulling thistles, grooming mounds, and tending to our ravenously growing crops. We're going to go in next weekend and fill in the spots that didn't come up in the first go-around. I'm excited to add some lettuces and melons (Joe? Melons! I think we have room by the other squash...thoughts?) to our already burgeoning plot.
Thanks for your patience with me last week. It was fabulous, and quite honestly, necessary, to take the week off from all things social media. I didn't take a single outfit shot, and didn't even bring my camera to Joe's when we were there this weekend. I spent the weekend living in jean shorts, jersey dresses, and comfy flat sandals, and I couldn't be happier about it. I'm rejuvenated, and re-inspired to take on the summer. I have big plans for lakeshore bike rides, long late Friday evenings at the outdoor bar/restaurant/music venue/general hangout spot near Joe's apartment, fresh veggie eating, perfecting the art of pickling for our vegetable overgrowth, and just generally enjoying the long, hot months of summertime.
How about you? What did you do last week? How are you gearing up for summer?
