Lime green tank: Old Navy, remixed * Skinny pants: H&M, thrifted and remixed * Shoes: Naturalizer, remixed * Yellow belt: Forever 21, remixed * Earrings: gift from my bestie
Thank goodness for mid-rise pants. Do you guys remember the awful, self-esteem sacrificing, lower-than-your-underwear, hiphugger jeans from a few years ago? When stores started advertising, "lowest rise yet!", like an inverted showcha-ing of the chocha. I am glad that is over. As far as I'm concerned, the higher the rise, the better (well, to a certain extent). I am deeply unsatisfied with pants that don't even go up as far as my hip bone. Come on! Those aren't even pants. They're just glorified chaps. In any case, I am thankful for these H&M slacks. The rise is perfect, the cut is flattering, and after a good hemming, the length is appropriate for my stunted gams. They make for a perfectly retro silhouette that I'm totally comfortable with.
I'm also really happy to bust out these Naturalizer wedges for the first time this season. I wore the crap out of these shoes last year, and I know they'll get in some good use this year as well. They're so comfy, and have such a classic, retro shape. I wore them with mostly dresses and skirts last year, but I think I'll be remixing them with slacks more this summer. They really work well with that 50s housewife vibe, I think, and I'm hoping to play that up.
In other news, my boss has been majorly sick this week. Keep your fingers crossed that I don't catch his scratchy throat and hallucinatory fever, okay? I have high hopes to hang with old friends and go to art fairs, farmers' markets, and beer festivals this weekend, and a fever would throw a major wrench in those plans.
