Just the Beer Light to Guide Us

Hello world! I have spent the last two days feeling absolutely infuriated at Blogger for not letting me publish posts, approve comments, comment on other peoples' posts, or do any behind-the-scenes maintenance of BLD. Not a huge deal, I guess, but I've been dying to publish this post from our Saturday festivities. Oh, and sorry about the kind of questionable photo quality. It was dark, my hair blended into the background, and I had already indulged in enough beer to be too lazy to adjust the settings on my camera. Anyway, before I dive into the weekend happenings, can we all oooh and aaah at this amazing t-shirt from FutureLint? I am crazy about this woman's blog, and sincerely hope to hang out with her during a possible trek to the Twin Cities this summer. I've been an admirer of her Etsy shop for awhile, too, and when I saw this rad skull and guitar print shirt, I knew it had to be mine. The fit is divine, the color is perfect, and the little pops of neon orange and blue throughout the print are so freaking festive I could die! Seriously, Christine, this is the best. shirt. ever.

It was also the perfect shirt to wear to Chicago's Beer Hoptacular event on Saturday. I went with Joe and a couple of old friends, and we had an absolute ball. It was at the Aragon ballroom theater, which is this crazy-town old theater venue on the north side of the city. I wish I had taken some pictures of the interior, because it is seriously mega decked out with medieval times decoration. Apparently it was built in 1926 and was supposed to be modeled after a traditional Spanish palace courtyard, but I couldn't help but equate the turrets, faux stonework, and galaxy-splattered ceiling with some serious pre-Renaissance fun (in a good way!). Apparently, back in the day, people like Frank Sinatra, Lawrence Welk, Duke Ellington, Jimmy Dorsey, (and later, Bowie!) used to play there (cite!). Anyway, this past weekend it was host to a beer fest. Now, if any of you know anything about me (and I think you do), you know that I like beer. I like beer so much that I brew it for myself. Anyway, this was right up our alley, and we had a blast sampling and catching up with dear friends (and later, indulging in fancy mac & cheese and custard!).
