Dress: Cooperative by Urban Outfitters, remixed * Belt: Little Ocean Annie Etsy shop * Shoes: Trotters, remixed
Three pieces: dress (1), shoes (2), belt (3). Three. One, two, three. I've decided, this summer, that simple is good. Gooood. Less is more. Fewer is better. Granted, fewer than three might not be enough, but these three pieces come together pretty well, I think. I love this red belt, bought on the Cave of Wonders thrifting excursion with Emily from a couple weeks ago. We ended up with some serious treasure from that trip. Anyway, I ended up throwing this outfit together in just a few moments before heading out the door. I had almost no time to get ready, and I grabbed this dress because I knew it would work well with only a few pieces. I wasn't initially sold on the red, gray, and cognac color combination, but I'm really happy with how it all came together.
The idea of simplicity has been on my mind lately. I'm hoping to get a couple of posts together about simplicity, intention, and purposeful living soon. I feel really strongly about taking control of certain parts of my life. Specifically, I want to try to simplify my life, prioritize the things and activities that are truly beneficial to my life and letting go of the petty problems that I let myself get carried away with. While this hits on a broader, deeper application in my life, it also rings very true in my stylistic choices. I love the feeling of creating new, creative, stylish outfits with only a few pieces, thrifted or remixed from other outfits. And no, it's no coincidence that this need for simplicity comes at the same time that the weather starts heating up in Chicago. Less is definitely more when it's 90 degrees and mega-humid.
