Andrea, of A Cat of Impossible Color, and me, at Quack's 43rd street Bakery in Austin
Today, I'm heading back to Chicago. *sad face* I'll be flying or hanging out in airports or buses for most of the day, but I thought I'd pop in and share some of the lovely pictures and lovely people I hung out with yesterday.
I had the great fortune and timing to meet the unbelievably lovely Andrea of A Cat of Impossible Color yesterday afternoon. I've been reading her blog for ages, but because of the sort of large-ish distance between Chicago and, oh, say, New Zealand, I just figured we'd never get the chance to meet face to face. But now she's in Austin, and I was in Austin, so voila! It was wonderful to sit and chat with her, eating delightful sweets and talking about everything from the fashion in Mad Men to sociopaths to politics in NZ, Zimbabwe, and the U.S. to thrifting in Austin. She's infinitely more adorable, endearing, and beautiful in person. I can't wait to do it again sometime.
Yesterday morning, my sister, her boyfriend, and I went to brunch at Taverna in downtown Austin. Between oohs and aahs over our bites of vanilla french toast and sips of dollar bellinis, we enjoyed the gorgeous morning Austin weather and chatted about our wonderful weekend. It was so wonderful to see my sister for a long weekend. We've sort of gotten to that "holidays and vacations" phase in our adulthood, and don't get to see each other nearly as often as we'd like. I'm sad to leave her! And ain't she purty!!?!?!
On me: T-shirt: thrifted * Skirt: Forever 21 * Oxfords: Seychelles * Belt: thrifted * Scarf: Forever 21 * Earrings: DIY * Purse: vintage Kenneth Cole
On my sister: Asymmetrical one-shoulder dress: Ebay * Wedges: shop in a mall in Colorado * Necklace: heirloom from our grandmother
My little sis is quite the stylish gal, and I pestered her all weekend about getting a proper outfit photo so that I could do a feature of here. But we managed to completely forget, every day, so these pictures of the two of us together outside Taverna will have to do. I think she looks just gorgeous, and I think we can all agree that her hair is kind of awesome. In the true sense of the word awesome, mind you, not the Eddie Izzard sense ("like a thousand hot dogs, sir"). I love you, sister!
