Want to Fly Like I Do

For my second day of participating in Dress Your Best Week, I'm scaling things down, but just a bit. Yesterday I embraced my petite figure, in all its geometric glory. Today I'm going to talk about one part of that figure that I've only recently learned to love:

2. My waist

...but what waist? You might be thinking that, with a rectangle body type, there's not much of a waist to celebrate. Well, keep readin', folks!

It's true that my waist is not tiny or cinched in. It is barely different in width than my hips, and sometimes wider than my chest (especially after a big lunch!). Clothes that are made for hourglass figures look utterly ridiculous on me, and waist-defining outfits make me quickly look like a somewhat confused 12-year-old boy. However, that is precisely why I love my waist. Because of its rectangularity (what? it's a word! - p.s. it's not), I can wear skirts, pants, shorts, and belts at almost any point on my torso and create a faux-waist. If I want mile-high legs, I shimmy a skirt up to my ribcage and voila (p.s. that's exactly what I'm doing with this new Anthro skirt. And check it out! My legs go on for miles!)! If I want to create a long, lean line through my torso, I wear hip-slung pants (with heels, so my legs don't get too stumpified - also a word). I do wear some things at my natural waist, and those look great, too. So today I'm celebrating my fabulous waist because of its versatility. Thanks, midsection, for making me look gooood.
