Standing By the Ocean's Roar

Outfit details:
Shirt: Urban Outfitters, remixed
Plaid shorts: Target
Black flip-flops: Reef

Where:
The beach!!!

It was hot today. H.O.T. Mid-upper 80s (which to a Wyoming girl is totally hot), and we decided that a proper beach day was the only way to remedy the heat. So on came the mis-matching beach outfits, slatherings of sunscreen, and unnecessary sunglasses tans. But it was awesome chilling on the towel, drinking ice-cold Cokes, and believing that summer had finally arrived.

And I totally took Kimberly's pattern-mixing advice in her May inspiration calendar...to an extreme, perhaps! Neither the colors nor the patterns of these two pieces match, but they feel oh-so-right together anyway. Plus, who cares what you're wearing if you're just going to be in your swimsuit anyway??

Outfit details:
Brown skirt (worn as dress): gift, originally Copper Key
Tan skirt: American Eagle
Necklace: World Market, remixed here and here
Shoes: Seychelles, free from Solestruck.com!!!

Where:
Out for beer and dinner fixin's, home for beer and dinner

This was my post-beach ensemble, featuring these awesome shoes that I got from Solestruck.com!! I definitely need to work out some blister issues (as is the case with all leather shoes), but I LOVE them! Thanks so much!!!

This dark brown strapless dress is, in fact, a jersey skirt that I have loved and worn dearly for many years. However, it's just a bit too long, as it falls just below the knee, so I've been toying with transforming it into a dress for awhile. It was just a bit too short and revealing on its own, so I paired with an ancient mini skirt from American Eagle that I almost never wear. I was skeptical at first, but I think it turned out nicely. And I love how key accessories can bring out aspects to an outfit that are otherwise unaccentuated. This was a perfect summer day.
