Outfit details:
Black and red dress: birthday gift from my mom
Black leggings: Target
Black ballet flats: Target
Earrings: Etsy
Watch: Ann Klein, bought at Nordstrom Rack
Where:
Work
I was doing my normal daily blog readin' yesterday and came across Kimberly's May Calendar of Inspiration. Her tip for today was "basic black with a pop of red". I literally laughed out loud when I saw this because I was already planning on wearing this dress today. My mom gave it to me for my birthday when she was here and I've been dying to wear it ever since. I first paired it with black pumps and no leggings, but soon realized that it felt way too dressy. But with these leggings and my fave (and almost retired) ballet flats, I feel perfectly casual and light and flirty. Great for a day at the office, right?
Worth mentioning is this new watch! I haven't had a watch for years. I finally got sick of pulling out my cell phone every time I needed to check the time. I wanted a simple one, but still funky enough to be "me". So this red Ann Klein number was just the ticket, and on mega-sale at Nordstrom Rack. Yay!
I am also really digging the way my haircut is affecting the way I dress. Karla mentioned this in her post the other day (though I'm nowhere near brave enough for a mohawk!), but I've found that having hair this short and funky spawns me on to be more feminine in my fashion choices. More makeup, flowier fabrics, bright colors and interesting textures. I'm digging it...how 'bout you?
