First day at my new job!
Ah, day one. The first day at my new job was a big delightful blur. I'm honestly not convinced I remember all of what happened, who I met, what I did, but I know I like it. My office is small (only 3 full-time staff) and warm (I've known my boss for a few years now, and the other staff member is smart, kind, and has great shoes!). They let, and encouraged, me to jump in right away and take initiative on a few projects, so I already feel like I'm getting the ball rolling. This is definitely something that I'm going to actually enjoy going to each day (though I can tell that by Friday I'll be unbelievably exhausted and ready for the weekend). Oh, and thank you all so much for your well-wishes about this exciting new venture of mine! :)
Thank you also for all of your kind words about my grandmother. It's been a rough few days, but I've been talking to my family a lot, and I'll see everyone this weekend for the funeral. And it's been good to get back into regular life, with work, and Joe and my daily routine. We've been cooking a lot lately, which has been nice (and has left the refrigerator stocked with leftovers!). We had french onion soup and pumpkin cookies this weekend, along with the traditional New Years fare (for my family, it's ham, cabbage, and black-eyed peas) and Joe's homemade curry. Speaking of Joe, his mom gave me this gorgeous amaryllis plant, and lo and behold! I made it bloom (you would understand the significance of this if you knew how many plants I've killed)!!
