Today was one of those days when I just could not decide what to wear. I had a couple of ideas in mind, but as I put each one on, they just didn't seem right. I ended up with a big ol' pile of clothes on my bed when I left for work, and I felt majorly frustrated. Ironically enough, this outfit (which I threw on in a rush while I was running into the kitchen to get my coffee) ended up being one of my recent favorites. I had never thought to put the belt on the outside of the blazer, but I like the way it turned out.
I read a quote the other day, and I don't remember it verbatim, so I'm just going to paraphrase the general idea. Basically, it pointed out that if "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", we would do well to remember that we are the beholders. We are the ones that see beauty, that define it, that name it. I think we tend to wait for others to tell us that we are beautiful, to inform us of what beauty is. But we have the right, the responsibility, the privilege, to define beauty ourselves, to say that we are beautiful. I think it's a powerful reminder to have, and I'm think I might incorporate it into my new year's resolutions (or rather, just general life resolutions). So what do you all think? Are you beholders of beauty?
