These pictures were (obviously) taken before it started snowing this weekend. I'm kind of going back in time with my posts. Pretty soon it'll be summer again (just kidding, I'm not that behind!)! I wore this on Friday, right as the snowstorm started to roll in. It got real cold real fast, and then the snow came in overnight. But on Friday afternoon, Emily and I trekked out to my favorite abandoned park building and got a few shots of the last glimpse of autumn.
I love this crazy little shirt I found at Unique a few weeks ago. It's a thin, sheer material, covered with little fabric flowers. It drapes in the most lovely way, and I love that it has such a whimsical 3D effect. It's kind of the epitome of a fun, yet still professional, work shirt. I think it will look adorable with a high-waisted skirt, too, but I still have to figure out a way to not ruin the flowers when it gets tucked in! I kept it simple for this outfit, with my favorite black cigarette pants and my yellow cut-out flats (which you can't see at all, since they're lost in the leaves).
It's been getting harder and harder to find inspiration as the weather gets colder. All I want is heavy pants, tall boots, and cozy sweaters, but that gets a bit boring, and definitely doesn't make the best use out of what I have in my closet. This always seems to happen to me when a new season comes on quickly. I don't have the time or creative juices to adjust to a new climate, and so I revert to basic pieces and simplistic outfits until my brain catches up to my frozen fingers. I'm starting to brainstorm some great outfits with wool skirts, heavy cardigans, and layers of sweaters, but it might be another week or so before I get the chutzpah to actually do anything about it.
As much as I like taking my own pictures, and as happy as I am with some of the outcomes, I definitely have more fun when I have a photo buddy. I tend to act like a massive goober when Emily is taking my pictures, and I take to throwing leaves in the air (and looking mighty pleased with myself while doing it), climbing trees, and being a revolutionary (see below).
Okay, enough of this weird, disjointed post. Hopefully I'll be back with a bit more coherency tomorrow. :)
