My Rodarte cardigan is one of my favorite comfort items. The shape, fit, and material make it super comfortable, but the color and lace pattern keep it super interesting and fun. Oh, and I've been on a kind of ridiculous mustard kick lately. In addition to today and this outfit, I have another mustard-y outfit to show soon. I just love mustard yellow, though! It's such an exciting color, and I think it looks good with my complexion and personal style. I've started to treat it almost as a neutral in my outfits. I love how the blue headband pops against the cardigan and all the other neutrals in the outfit. I bought the headband awhile ago, when my hair was longer, but I love how it looks like this with my short hair.
It's been very rainy in Chicago lately, and it's made me think of Spring. The rain isn't exactly fun, or warm, but it isn't snow, which makes it awesome. I'm finally looking forward to warm weather and summer sunshine. So in that vein, I'm making a little list of things I'm psyched about:
- Iced coffee (not from a coffeeshop, but brewed at home. I'm so looking forward to getting up in the mornings with Joe and sitting in the early morning sunshine drinking coffee. Our apartment stays quite warm during the summer, which is actually really nice in the early mornings, but it makes it hard to drink hot coffee)
- Getting done with work at 3 and going to the beach with Joe (I can't express enough how grateful I am that both my house and office are walking distance from one of the beaches along Lake Michigan)
- Hunting for sea glass (or lake glass) along the shores of the lake
- Shorts (chambray, denim, linen...any of them, as long as they don't involve tights!)
- Flat sandals (oh, for some inexplicable reason, I'm feeling completely over heeled sandals this season. I'm all for heels, but there's something about summer casual that speaks to flat and strappy for me)
- Soft humid breezes from the lake
- Walking along the lakeshore to the Loop (it's just over a 6-mile walk, but sooo nice in the summer along the bikepath)
- Summer festivals and concerts (Taste of Chicago, the free concerts at Pritzker pavilion, fireworks off Navy Pier, the renegade arts festival, a sweet seasonal lineup at Ravinia...yay!)
- Burgers and homebrews (so, I know that I have burgers and homebrews in all seasons, but there's something especially magical about having a grilled burger and a cold beer during summertime)
- Reading in the park
- Leaving the windows open in the apartment (another side effect of having a hot apartment during the warmer months. Honestly, though, I love the fresh air that streams through the apartment when the windows are open. It always feels so stifling in fall when we have to close the windows again)
- Getting up early, staying up late, and enjoying sunshine at all hours of the day. Huzzah for long days!
