Work and Joe's birthday celebration extravaganza!
Joe turns 25 today, which is crazy insane. I asked him if he was ready for his quarter-life crisis and he told me that he wasn't a quarter of the way through his life yet. He apparently plans on being 116 when he dies (or older, I guess) so he can say he has seen three centuries. I told him that I hoped that he didn't expect me to stick around for all that.
I'm making him a variety of tasty treats for his birthday dinner. Our upcoming trip to Michigan (more on that later!) is really serving as his true birthday present, but I thought I should still make him a nice dinner. We're having slow-cooker chicken tacos (with lime, avocado, and cilantro), refried beans, Spanish rice, and homemade bread pudding. I'm pretty psyched about the whole thing (click-through for more photos of dinner-in-progress!).
I also wanted to dress up for the occasion, so I donned my teal Velvet Torch dress and Kmart boots (it's still soooo cold!!) and some of my fave wood/brown accessories. This necklace was given to me years ago and was bought for me by a dear friend from some Tibetan monks in Wyoming. Kinda random, I know. The seven symbols are supposedly for good luck, so I thought a birthday would be a perfect time to wear it. I wore it often in high school and college, but haven't as much in recent years. Seeing it today makes me want to wear it more!!
Title song: Rufus Wainwright, "Hallelujah" (this is Joe's favorite version of this song)
