Lunch with old friends
It is HOT in Chicago this weekend!!! Seriously sweltering. It's actually really nice though, to feel like summer is really here. We finally got a window air conditioner unit for the apartment, so we can stay cool and comfy while inside, and pop out into to the hot hot humidity only when necessary. It was necessary yesterday, since I was meeting some old college friends for lunch in the city. One of them just moved here (yay!) to do Teach for America, and the other was in town for the weekend for a bachelorette party.
I knew that we'd probably be out most of the afternoon, having lunch and wandering, so I decided to go minimal and breezy. I was so glad I did, too, because the heat was almost too much. We had a delightful time eating Chicago-style pizza, walking the Magnificent Mile, and people-watching in Millennium Park. We spotted 4 different wedding parties taking their pictures (each had great accent colors - fuchsia, sea-green, orange, and pink), and a totally wild quinceanera party, with the biggest brightest neon pink tulle dress I think I've ever seen. Delightful, although I was way glad I wasn't in one of those heavy (and I'm sure oppressively hot) dresses!!
